Like the title says I'm new around here and new to open carry. I am a cpl holder but have not OC'd yet. I'm just soaking up all the information I can before my first encounter with a LEO. Just wanted to start a new thread and say hi...

Welcome Don, I have been OCing for 13-14 yrs (not always but mostly).
I have never had interaction as far as carry goes and you may be waiting for a long time to have an encounter with LEO. Don't let that be the reason you do not carry openly. I know it does happen but I think you would be surprised at how little it actually does. Now I guess in Flint you may have the opportunity to be approached/asked more than I in the Kalamazoo area.
Start in comfortable locations and go further as your comfort level grows.
