The only thing I know about, is that you need a CPL to be on the property to begin with.

so as long as the establishment (even gas stations) sell alcohol... a person who is OC needs to hold a current CPL??? but what about actually purchasinging while carrying?

In order to OC in the establishment that is licensed to sell alcohol in MI, or on their premises, this includes the parking lot, yes, you must be a CPL holder.  Other than that, I don't see any reason why buying alcohol would be any different than buying soda.  As long as you don't plan on consuming any of it while carrying...

You can get permission to OC without a CPL from the stores owner/agent. As far as buying beer while OCing, I've done it...no biggie.
