Title: Guy impersonates CIA to carry concealed in a movie theater
Post by: ken243 on July 31, 2013, 06:44:06 PM
If he only would have read MSP update 86.

"Court records say Delavergne told agents he had a concealed weapon permit and didn't want to leave his gun unattended."

From the article "That fake ID badge is what got him arrested. Delavergne has a license for the gun and it's not illegal to carry it in the theatre, but now he's charged with impersonating a federal agent. The FBI is handling the case now."

I do like that the reporter or copy editor knew the law.

"We reached out to NCG Cinemas and they weren't worried about any danger either."
Then why the call? The body armor?

I thought maybe a violation of mcl  750.227f at first. Turns out because it wasn't a violent crime the body armor is legal too. Should have kept well enough alone and not impersonated a federal officer. He would have been a free man.

Body armor isn't illegal unless you commit a violent crime while wearing it. Impersonating a CIA agent is illegal, but not violent. He isnt in violation of MCL on body armor.

Could be in violation of mcl 750.227b, as impersonating a federal agent seems to be a felony. Although, I'm jot very confident in my federal law knowledge and how the possession of a firearm during a felony could be applied.

He should have impersonated a war hero, that’s totally legal
