Title: Man arrested and tased for refusing to show ID
Post by: gryphon on September 03, 2014, 05:25:37 PM
This isn't gun-related, nor did this happen in Michigan, but it is a "failure to ID" incident, and Minnesota is not a "must ID" state.

Cliffs: man was sitting in a Minnesota skyway waiting for his kids.  Cops told him it was a "restricted" area (it wasn't posted, it's a public skyway) and asked him to move, which he did.  They then demanded to see ID, which he refused to show.

They tased him and arrested him.  When they later found out he had recorded the whole thing, they dropped the charges.  In a follow-up story, one LEO interviewed said if cops ask, you must show ID.  Entire story, and related links, at the link.

Lying sacks of $#|t arrested on felony perjury charges for lying in sworn police reports in 3, 2, 1...   ...  ...  ... ...
How about official oppression, maybe RICO? ... ... Hey, District Attorney, you going to file any charges before the badge toting culprits die of old age? ... I guess not.

If something like this happens in my county, complete with video proof, the Persecuting Attorney can explain it to the voters while he's facing the recall election I started.

Here's what happened to a cop who was caught in a much more serious perjury, lying about an aggravated assault that was caught on dash cam. She got 3 years of probation, UNSUPERVISED, and a deferred $300 fine:

He committed what many police consider a crime punishable by immediate death on the spot: contempt of cop + knowing his rights! How dare he?

This will be quietly settled and badged criminals will once again get away with felonious assault, unlawful detainment/kidnapping. Sad days we live in. His kids got to watch dad getting a lesson in: screw the constitution! We are the law & we decide who is free and who will be our victims...     :(  If he didn't have the camera he would be sitting in jail now on BS charges.

Just sickening!

Apparently he was sitting in a skyway lounge area waiting for his kids, and the nearby security guard said the seats were reserved for building employees.  The St. Paul Skyway itself is public property, but I don't know exactly where the seats were.  Nevertheless, the area was not marked private or restricted. When the cops asked him to move, he complied. But when they then demanded ID, he refused.

A review board is now reviewing the case. The mayor is also calling for a full review.
