Updated. Updated information is in bold.
Michigan Open carry will have an information table at the Dundee Cabela's September 14th and 15th. Come on by and show your support, bring a friend and introduce them to Michigan Open Carry. Here are the details:
Saturday September 14th from 8 AM to 9 PM
Sunday September 15th from 10 AM to 8 PM
Michigan Open Carry President Phil Hofmeister is scheduled to speak Saturday the 14th from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

As with the NRA Days we had in February, any volunteers to help work the table are welcome.

I should be able to volunteer on Saturday from 5 to close if you need the help. Maybe a little earlier, depends on what time the wife get home, it's her weekend to work.

Question to those who have worked the Cabelas' NRA Days before: about how many people actually come up to the table and engage you in conversation or ask for more information?
The reason I ask is because I would like to get a bunch of full color laser printed newsletters in your hand to give out to interested parties, not just people walking past, if that would be of interest to us.
I would also print a special 31st page that would tell them this is a an electronic pdf newsletter with 150 hyperlinks to additional content that they would need to access via this URL: http://miopencarry.org/moc_files/publications/newsletter/MOC-Newsletter-2.pdf (http://miopencarry.org/moc_files/publications/newsletter/MOC-Newsletter-2.pdf) and anything else we would like to say. I think I can supply 50 or maybe even 100 full-color copies of the 30-page newsletter. How many do you think you will need? 50? 100? 200? More?
I assume you will be providing MOC Tri-folds for those interested. In the past I have printed out copies of the MSP Legal Update #86. I think I ended up foisting about 80 copies on my son and told him to give them out to his friends and strangers he meets. I can also supply over 100 of those if you want. That's easier, it's smaller.
I will be out of town that weekend so I won't be there myself, so I would have to get them to someone beforehand. Actually I will be back Sunday afternoon and might be able to work Sunday afternoon if needed (maybe 4 pm until 8 pm close). It sucks, though, because it's like a two hour drive from my house. But if needed I can probably do it.

I worked the table all day both days in February and we had a good amount of discussion. On Saturday we ran out of MSP 86's and had to get some more brought to us. I can't give you a number count, but we did spend more time talking to other people than we did among ourselves. I know I plan to be there again both days and will have a lot of all the literature this time. Copies of the newslettter would be a good addition I think. Would you be printing these double sided? Reason I ask is it would be cheaper that way and easier to pass out as people wouldn't feel they were taking a book lol.

OP updated.

Would you be printing these double sided?
Yes. If MOC would like to pass these out, I'll try to get a bunch printed up (and MSP #86, too).

Check your PM's Dan

I know what you mean about the 2 hour drive being a pain. I drove it the last 2 years for the NRA Days at that Cabelas.

Fortunately I'm closer lol

Morning coffee in progress, hope to see you all there!

Our table is located back by the fishing department.

I could not make it today, the person I was going with had to work until 5am but we plan to go tomorrow. Hopefully I will at least get to say hello and watch the Sunday seminars. I was really hoping to get there today and watch the one Philip was speaking on, I don't suppose anybody is going to record it for those that may want to have seen it?
I should be there Sunday though if nothing comes up.
-
Sorry to hear that. I don't know that any one will be recording Phil. I will be at the table so I can't. Hope to see you tomorrow.
-
Stuck in Virginia. Hope all goes well.
-
I so wanted to attend today... serious family issues trumped :(

Our table is located back by the fishing department.
Not by the firearms and firearm accessories?!?
-
nope

I knew there are CPL instructors teaching students that a CPL means you can't open carry, meeting people today showed me how prevalent that misinformation is. Truly sad. I'm glad I went. I'm glad I had the opportunity to educate.

Yes that came up as well a many other good questions and good conversations. We did an excellent job this weekend. I would like to thank those that came out to help man the table, Divegeek, Detroit Fan, Linux203 and Onnie. Great job guys!
-
you're the one that did a great job ezerharden, you put in WAY more hours and than any of us!
-
Was there good interest from the public? Did you run out of handouts?

About 20 attended my presentation where I went over: preemption, 750.234d, 28.425o, and answered questions.

Didn't run out but went through quite a few. We had many people approach and ask questions or thank us for what we do.
