Title: MSP failure to report
Post by: gryphon on February 05, 2016, 10:18:16 PM
Has anyone besides me found it suspicious (or coincidental) that the MSP has failed to updated their monthly CPL reporting ever since they took over?  No reports for Jan 2016 or Feb 2016.  They used to post them within the first few days of each month without fail.  I've been watching the MSP website.  Nothing for over two months!

Not surprising.  In April 2015, I submitted a FOIA request for the 2013-2104 CPL annual report and the MSP basically told me to go pound sand.

In Jan 2016 we should have broken the 500,000 mark by a good margin.

SB 34 changed the reporting requirements. I don't know if they are no longer required to report monthly.

This doesn't look right.  This must be for Jan (even though it wasn't released until Feb) because we had 499K back on Dec 1, 2015.  I have a hard time believing we only added 16K in two months.  That's about one month's worth of new CPLs.

No, I think 16k is about right. In fact it's more than normal for the two months IIRC.

As of Feb. 1, Michigan has a total of 516,612 active new or renewed CPLs statewide, according to the Michigan State Police. That count is 1,461 in Otsego County.

Yes, I was wrong.  Looking back over the reports from the previous year I see that I misremembered the trajectory we were on.

Looks quadratic. x^1.4?

Ohio's there too.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine released the Concealed Handgun License (CHL) statistics for the first quarter of 2016. It was another record setting year. There are now over a half-million valid Ohio CHLs and Ohio honors an estimated 12,300,000 more from other states.
