Title: I had to get one...
Post by: 32_d3gr33s on January 29, 2014, 09:16:51 AM
Been eyeballing it for a while, and finally picked one up yesterday.  Now, what holster to get?  I have a drop leg but would like a nice owb holster too.

Nice. I have one and love it. This thing chews through all ammo even my reloads. I believe you will love it too.  I have a Galco cop series holster. Fits great.  Allows me to carry cocked and locked. The retaining strap fits between the hammer and the firing pin. I have had no issues unholstering the weapon during practice. Have fun. It is a great gun.

Safariland ALS or SLS or Blackhawk CQC.  There is a review of the Safariland SLS in the Jan 2013 MOC Newsletter, and a review of the Safariland ALS holster in Jan 2014 MOC Newsletter.

Have you thought about getting a Serpa holster for it?

Nice gun!  I hope it is perfect for you!  I love carrying and shooting 1911's!!

Lol!  You are a trouble maker!   :D

For the record I have several Serpa holsters and I love them!

I also have a Commander Sized leather Blackhawk with a thumb break strap that is very comfortable even while driving.  I use it for both open and concealed carry.

Oh, and I have a number of  UBG holsters for 1911 and various other guns.  Both OWB and IWB.  Concealed only as no retention system.

I have a serpa for my m&p and figured id try something different. I think this needs a nice puurdy leather holster.  I've owned a couple galco holsters and they seem to work great. Sometimes the less known brands are way better though! And cheaper!

Where did you get it?  Everyone around Grand Rapids seems to only have the commander size.

You must have been there right after they unloaded a truck or something.   Every time I go in there they are plain out of the standard sized SR1911s.

I called Monday afternoon and they said they had one. Went Tuesday right when they opened and got it. One worker said 3 different guys looked at it Monday and one said he was coming back for it... guess he was too late ;)
