That's what one reporter said after the NRA took a bunch of reporters out shooting to show them exactly what suppressors are, how they work, and that they don't "silence" gunshots to a whisper like a lot of people think. They are still loud, just not as loud.
One TV reporter said that she felt she’d been “lied to” by what what’s portrayed in the movies.

Media Education Day, I like that concept.
It's just astounding that even airgun moderators are a social requirement in anti gun England, but where they have some common sense, here in the USA we senselessly demonize muffling harmful noises.
Remember those noisy car exhaust commercials from the 1980s?
MIDASIZE IT! (go to Midas and get a muffler put on that thing, you antisocial jerk)

Mythbusters experiences the same thing but views it differently.
I guess they think the mild 'pew pew' sound in the movies is 128dB.
Yes, guys, a suppressed pistol is a lot quieter than unsuppressed, but the movie version is a LOT quieter than the real suppressor.
We want to see whether these things actually make the same sounds in real life that they do in the movies...

I do believe the boys broke a federal law by disassembling the suppressors. Taking them apart, even for cleaning, requires an ATF manufacturing license.

Suppressor/silencers are illegal in California, as well.
Also, did it bother anyone else that they were wearing ballistic vests at a shooting range? I would understand if it was open to the public...
