Title: SCoM Judge Diane Hathaway to retire
Post by: TheQ on January 07, 2013, 09:56:55 PM
From Gongwer:

Quote
Embattled Liberal Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway will retire from the Supreme Court effective January 21, a move that became public less than an hour after the Judicial Tenure Commission called for her suspension after issuing a formal complaint against her in a real estate scandal.

Anti-gun Michigan Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway, has announced her resignation from the Michigan Supreme Court. The resignation following today's announcement of a 6-count complaint filed against her by the Judicial Tenure Commission for real estate mortgage fraud. Hathaway was half way through her 8 year term won after a negative campaign falsely accusing former Chief Justice Cliff Taylor of sleeping on the bench. In that campaign, Hathaway said, "“If you see justice in the name, he really belongs in the hall of shame." Hathaway came to the court having served previously as a real estate broker and a real estate attorney.

This will certainly have ramifications on MOC's case with the Capitol Area District Library which CADL is currently considering for appeal to the Michigan Supreme Court.

Good.  She was anti-gun and pro-fraud.

Yeah I don't get how these high level politicians, etc seem to be able to avoid investigations and whatnot just through resigning or retiring...   it's bullcrap.
