Title: Coin designs
Post by: venator on April 23, 2010, 03:41:12 PM
Draft of a basic center design.  The red white and blue is just a variation.  The coin guy will modify the background.

My man
If you can make these
the size of Dimes
with a good clear coat over it to protect finish
I will take two
and eventually get them put into my black micarta or g10 1911 grips :)

That is one bad a$$ idea! Wish I had thought of it. The coins would make excellent grip inlays. Front showing on one side, back on the other. Mind if I steal your idea?

Anyone else want pistol grip inlays? It certainly can't hurt to ask the vendor if he can do it!

Well, if three are interested so far, I have to assume there will be more. I'll bounce the coin guy an email and see what shakes out!

I wonder if a full size coin could be inserted into a leather holster.  that might look nice.

I checked the leather holster I have for my 1911 and there's no area large enough for a full-size coin.  I also checked my Blade-Tech I have for my Glock, and again, there's no area large enough.  If the coins were the size of a dime, as mentioned previously, they would work on both of my holsters.

No reply yet from the vendor.  :(

Now, I have nothing against Brian, and he does make some nice designs, but are we really going to let him win by default? someone'
s gotta give him a run for his money (coin)!

Well everyone, the deadline for submissions has passed. For what it's worth, evil creamsicle can back me up on this, on the deadline date, at the Warren picninc, I asked him if he could draw up last years coin back but with a few minutemen standing behind the lone patriot to signify the growth of our corporation.

I'll throw this on the mercy of the group since the deadline did indeed pass and deadlines do mean things. Who says let the submisison in? (artwork to follow) If not, we do have two designs to vote on this Saturday!

By the way for those that wanted to get pistol grip inlay coins, it would take a minimum order of 50 pieces (25 sets) and would cost $20/set. There doesn't have to be a deadline on this, we can just throw an order thread up and see what happens over time.

Well, OK, here it is. Didn't have much time to do a good job of the artwork so this is just the concept. I am sure the vendor or a talented member from here could make this actually look good should the idea be popular enough.

PS:

Sorry guys that I did not get on making that in time.

I see someone did... but if that one wins and you need it changed or redesigned or something, let me know.

...hmm, there is no emoticon that is 'dropping the ball'.
