Title: Open Carry Seminar in Grand Rapids(ish) - 2/20/14
Post by: bigt8261 on January 03, 2014, 05:00:21 PM
The River City Patriots have asked Michigan Open Carry to hold a seminar at one of their meetings, and has invited the public to join.

If you have questions about the laws or best practices of open carrying a handgun, or just looking for a refresher course, then this is a great opportunity for you. These seminars, presented by Michigan Open Carry, are an excellent opportunity to learn about the laws and myths that surround the open carry of a handgun in Michigan.

Lawful open carry of a holstered handgun welcome (but not required).

Just might go just to learn about the River City Patriots instead.

Is this event still on for tonight?  I am going to try and attend, so I'd hate to waste the trip if this got called off.

Was thinking the same thing.  I'd like to attend to show support and to learn about the group that is hosting.

I'm planning on attending tonight.  Hope it is not cancelled.  I've got some newbie questions.

It's on. Not cancelled. Why would you think it's cancelled?

This is Michigan. We don't cancel events even if there is 2' of snow!

I posted yesterday that I was looking forward to seeing everyone, however, it was in the wrong thread. :(

Thanks to everyone that showed up. We had a good turnout and I hope everyone learned something.

Should we always include a section on recording devices and legality of recording in Michigan at the end of our Open Carry seminars?

I (we) normally cover it at every seminar. Last night I tried to run through a little faster due to the amount of time that passed before we were able to start the seminar. In my haste, I forgot to talk about recorders which is why I interrupted Dave and had Tim say something.

Outstanding job, Tom; you are a natural public speaker and a credit to the organization. Pace was very good, clearly presented with appropriate timing for questions.

I do have some ideas about content and order of materials, if anyone is interested.
