Title: The UNIX-HATERS Handbook
Post by: gryphon on February 22, 2015, 02:21:49 PM
I'm currently reading The UNIX-HATERS Handbook, which I find hilarious.  It was written around a bunch of entries from the UNIX-HATERS section of Usenet from the late 80's to the early 90's.  (I began using Unix around 1989 I think).  It was originally published in 1994.  A lot of the old things have been fixed, and if you never were deep into Unix you probably won't understand or appreciate it, but if anyone is interested, it was released free of charge a number of years ago.  One place you can download it is here:

It is full of great stories and even has an Anti-Foreword from Dennis Ritchie!  Good stuff.

Yeah, I think I've found someone who hates C++ almost as much as I do.  If God had wanted man to use C++, He'd have had Dennis Ritchie invent it!

Well, maybe Linus Torvalds hates C++ as much as I do.

I love C, I hate C++!!!

Only thing about C++ is those pesky dangling pointers to objects that people don't properly clean up.

Oh no, there's a LOT of nasty things about C++.  Stroustrup took a simple and powerful language, C, and screwed with it and screwed with it until it became the total abortion it is now.
