Today at the Village Cafe in Vernon
Then in Durand i went for a little walk,Police chief Tanner......
I oc'd at Parshallville cider mill which is just outside of Fenton and before Hartland. My wife and I went for the hot cider and donuts. The usual stares as we walked up to the entrance, are always available. It's like they have radar to my holster or mag. As we stood in line to get to the order counter, two different groups of families entered and took their position behind us. Here's the oddity, they stood there for less than two to four minutes and then they left to go outside. They had preteens and younger with them and I'm guessing that my firearm made them want to remove themselves from the close proximity. I'm speculating as to the cause of their abrupt departure. When we left the building the owner was outside, across the street watching, and as i made eye contact, he looked away. We took a picnic bench and enjoyed the cider as well as the bees. It's exhilarating to exercise your 2nd Amendment right, as well as Art. 1, Sec. 6 of the Mich. Constitution, when everyone around you thinks it's such a dangerous, foreign notion.
/snip/ ... on his way out he stops at cash register and orders food. he pays while setting down his money bags right by me. not sure what their procedure is but seemed full of protocol errors. /snip/ ...
Another Day of oc, Started at walmart in Saline to pick up some rounds to shoot at the range, upon leaving walmart a truck made an illegal left turn out of walmart (them crazy one way annoying things would stop that I assumed but guess not) and ran into a car on 12 sending it across 3 lanes to the grass on the front of the gass station across the street. Having my Emergency Medical Tech license I grabbed my medical kit from my truck and climbed into the back seat of the car to control C-Spine of the driver, When the first leo showed up he opened the passenger door and I disclosed I had a firearm on my him he replied with "ok" seeing that my hands were fixed on C-spine, after ems took over I walked past another two leo's with not words said. Went down to the firing line in Westland shot about 150 rounds while there. Next went to culver's on Belleville rd off of 94 then filled up with gas at the circle K across from sams club on 12 east of saline paid at the pump. Another great day of oc with no issues or even anyone asking about oc.
OC on my way to work and stopped at speedway. i got a liter dr. pepper and one of those tornado rolled up things. when the cashier rang it up she said $3.57 - i said no.. it's a 9mm. a few chuckles in customer line. if you want to recreate the joke go to speedway and buy those.
can't carry at all at work. i stopped at taco bell to get food to go when i got back to the building from my deliveries. i go inside to order..hate drive-thru. there is an armed brink's guard inside getting cash and armored truck outside. had i been OC wonder how that would play out. anyway on his way out he stops at cash register and orders food. he pays while setting down his money bags right by me. not sure what their procedure is but seemed full of protocol errors. he could have put it in truck and came back in. don't know but that could put me in harms way UNARMED if somebody made a try for it. nothing happened and i went back to work. just seemed odd.

They have gone to hell in a hand basket as a company overall & like other outfits have resorted to pinching pennies on staff. He doesn't care because he's making $10 an hour & being worked like a dog most likely. What you described was a HUGE protocol breach in the past. But in the past they ran with 3 man crews; driver, guard, & messenger (all CPL holders & armed to the teeth). My contacts tell me that now often, the driver is unarmed due to some "issues" in past or other delays. So basically the guy you saw was probably, under paid, poorly trained, and completely demoralized, which leads to a "F" it attitude from some in the industry. :'(
Me and TheQ went for a walk in downtown Lansing tonight after the MOC teamspeak thing was over.
No issues, chatted up with a cabbie friend of ours for a bit. a Lansing LEO came across the scanners saying there were "two open carry SUBJECTS"(i took offense to the subjects thing)in the area,no physical descriptions were made nor did any LEO's stop or follow us.
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/201 ... hou?hpt=T2 Here is an interesting video of a bank that promotes oc in Texas. I open carried yesterday on my Harley. I went to the bank (drive through), and then went to gas up at the Mobil station. I was carrying my recorder. Didn't need it...
Find anything "interesting" there? :)
Lions Den in Perry, was told they've seen a few customers in there from time to time "like that"
Has anyone else had any issues at the Meijer’s at 13000 Middlebelt Rd, Livonia? I stopped in a little while ago to do some shopping and spent about 45 minuets in the store while OC and didn’t have any issues. You should contact Venator, I think he knows.
At first!
The store manager walked past me a few times as well as their loss prevention guard; they looked but neither said a thing.
That was until I made it to the register and started to check out; they both come up behind me and grabbed me by the shoulders; one on each side, and claimed they had a complaint and that I had to cover my weapon or leave the store at once.
Now keep in mind I just finished transporting a fugitive and stopped there on my way home. I was still wearing a shirt that has the words ‘BAIL ENFORCEMENT AGENT’ in three inch tall gold letters on the back and a 7 point star Bail Enforcement Agent badge screen printed on the front, and had on my bat belt with all the bells and whistles.
Anyway I explained that is was legal to openly carry a firearm and they proceeded to demand to see me CCW and again told me to cover my pistol or leave. I again advised that OC was legal and explained that it was obvious I was on my way out to door as I was at the register so they played the Private Property card and again told me I had to go put my weapon in my car if I wanted to finish my visit at the store.
Reluctantly I complied because I didn’t want to go some where else and waste more time re-shopping. As I walked out the door a Livonia Police Car was sitting there and the LP guard followed me out and went right to the cruiser and pointed at me as he was talking to the officer.
I cleared my weapon and locked it in my trunk and returned to pay for my shopping, as I walked back into the store I double checked for a sign prohibiting weapons in the store and again found none. When I returned to my cart the manager was standing with it and I asked him where their signage was prohibiting firearms was and received a blank stare in reply.
I was expecting to get pulled over by LPD as I was leaving; the LP guard watched me load my groceries into my car and as I drove off he was pointing rather aggressively at my car as if he was telling the Officer Look there he goes!
I kept an eye on my mirror the whole time and not a single Police vehicle followed me out. I don’t know if the store called the Police or the Officer just happened to be there when I walked out the first time so I’m debating on filing for the FOIA with Livonia if nothing more the out of curiosity.
Anyone have any idea what they charge to fulfill the FOIA?

hey bailenforcer - i've read your posts and gather that you haven't got your CPL yet but pretty sure you need one to OC at meijer due to their selling alcohol.Has anyone else had any issues at the Meijer’s at 13000 Middlebelt Rd, Livonia? I understand your decision to comply, if I was on my way home from work, and tired, I'd likely have done the same thing. But I'd be sure to contact Meijer's Corporate and tell them what happened. But if I'd been in a bad mood, I would have just walked out and not gone back in.
But, everyone is different. :)
Well, considering what his line of work is, I hope to hell he does have his CPL, otherwise, it could be problematic. As it is, based on other posts I've seen of his, I'm pretty sure he does have his CPL.

Does anyone know what Meijer's corporate position is on OC?I recall reading here or at OCDO that it's up to the store manager. But I could be wrong. :)

OC'd and CC'd while mowing my lawn.
CC'd in the front yard. Then I got too warm and took my over shirt off and OC'd in the back yard.
OC'd in Kroger in Lamberville, MI. A couple of double takes, but no confrontations or questions. I'm not sure anyone on staff saw me or not, but in any case there were no issues.
I had heard previously that Kroger had a no guns rule, but I checked the entrance and saw no signs.
Just to verify, you guys are OCing with a CPL, correct? Otherwise, open carry in a kroger would be a no-no since they sell booze, right?Correct, If the location has a liquor license you must have a CPL to be on their property (even the parking lot).
How do you semi-OC...?
How do you semi-OC...?
any input??

Give him your email address and tell him that when he finds the laws that require you to conceal to send you the link and you'll send him $20.00.
Also, ask for the name and contact info of his CPL instructor.

Then to the Walmart in Livonia made sure i received some help getting some ammo.
CV67Pat I said that only because i've been posting about this certain Walmart. They never have anyone to help you. So i went over to the Paint dept. for someone to call for assist. Just looks and said have a nice day. Carry On.
Your thinking to much into this. As you were. Carry On.I'm gonna keep my mouth shut on this one. :)

First all of you discussing LL need to go read some more as none of you have it right.
Second there is only one legal way for a person without a cpl to carry in or on the premises permission from the owner or other authorized person (and get it in writing)(including the parking lot and or other property) of a LL holding business whether they are currently selling or not.
Third there is no 50% rule or law... the MCL says "the majority of their income from the sale of booz" and only applies to places where it is sold by the glass. NOTE this only applies to people with a cpl and who are carrying concealed.
Read and learn fellows as to not understand this section is to likely visit the grey bar hotel!

Maybe I'm wrong, but the way I see it, if they take in $10k for food, $5k for T-shirts and $11k for alcohol, that looks to me like the primary source of their income is from sales OTHER than alcohol.First all of you discussing LL need to go read some more as none of you have it right.

Revenue... not income. Big difference here. Revenue = cash flow. Income = profit margins.
Food revenue: $10,000
Alcohol revenue: $11,000
T-shirt sales: $5,000
Food income: $10,000 w/15% profit margin = $1,500 income
Alcohol income: $11,000 w/ 8% profit margin = $880 income
T-shirt income: $5000 w/ 80% profit margin = $4000 income
Majority of revenue generated by alcohol sales. Majority of income generated by t-shirt sales.
Law is very specific. No ambiguity in this one. When in doubt... ask the agent (the same one that would ask you to leave) if the majority of revenue is generated by alcohol sales. Some places it is obvious. Others may be less obvious. Like a Mr B's. Sometimes when I am in there it appears that it is a restaurant that serves alcohol. Other times it appears to be a bar that serves food.
Just trying to keep people out of jail also. ;)
28.425o.amended Premises on which carrying concealed weapon prohibited; “premises” defined; exceptions
to subsection (1); violation; penalties......
(d) A bar or tavern licensed under the Michigan liquor control code of 1998, 1998 PA 58, MCL 436.1101 to 436.2303, where
the primary source of income of the business is the sale of alcoholic liquor by the glass and consumed on the premises.
Thanks BGA. My bad.Even I couldn't remember if it was income or revenue until I looked it up. ;)
If you had tin to go with the holster, the guy would not have had a single problem.
And I have seen plenty of jackets removed in restaurants by LEOs wearing shoulder rigs. No one ever approaches them.
Someone was just being a ****.
I have the predecessor to the jack ass rig which I find very comfortable and very concealable for carry of my BUG. This is if I did carry a BUG. And if I did carry a BUG, I would not admit to it. (Except as required by law.) So now everyone knows I don't ever carry a BUG. Especially not a left handed one in case some one tries to snatch my semi-OC gun.
Right... I understand all that... but other people, or anti's might not feel that way... just wondered if anyone said stuff about it.. because I like my shoulder holster for my USPc, but don't use it for that reason.I've never had anyone question me about muzzle sweep. I've only had questions (and stares) because I was carrying a gun to begin with.

I don't believe that is a good idea at all... so therefore I completely believe you when you say that you don't carry a BUG.... especially a lefthanded one... ;)
Good point about the LEO... but it is obvious that no one would A.) question LEO and B.) people just assume cops are experts (and are) and that joe public is an idiot.
How often have any of you ever seen two women open carrying by themselves...probably not very often. But if you would have been in Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics in Shelby Township on Wednesday Afternoon you would have seen me and my mom open carrying. Lots of bug eyed looks, but no one said anything to either of us.
We also had no incidents on our trip south when we stopped at the Flying Jay gas station off of I-75 @ the Reese exit. And no incidents on the way back when we stopped at the McDonald's at University and Opdyke Rd.

Oh yeah forgot to mention that we had my 3 year old daughter with us.
But... but... Only overweight, middle aged, white guys OC.
OC yesterday at the walled lake jet boat races. had to park pretty far away so had to hike it around the lake past a novi police car (no comments or issues) past walled lake barricades and patrol units (same but reserve officers) and around the boats in restaurant parking lot. police everywhere. ran into officer i knew and chatted with him for a minute. no problems or issues. actually felt invisible. there was just an Amp power drink floating thru the air.

I had a few conversations over the last week about open carry and each time I really wished that I had some of those fancy looking tri-folds. How do I get some of the nice looking ones? I'm sure I could donate some money to cover costs.

You'll get some in the mail with your membership package.

Finally did it. Tuesday morning we took a walk through downtown Grand Haven. Had the 1911 OWB with my shirt tucked in and a nice pair of shorts like Bronson wears. : )
No funny looks, no stares, no comments, no problems. I guess an fat old grandpa with his wife and 2 white princess dogs don't look very scary even if the 1911 is cocked & locked.

Even though all went as it should I would still recommend getting a voice recorder and have it running if you plan on more OC non-adventures.

I'm figuring that you were open carrying on the boat ride over to the island?

I'm figuring that you were open carrying on the boat ride over to the island?
The only sign I saw was a sign stating that they have the right to search anything (and any body)... I did not find that to be an issue as I wasnt hiding anything. did not see one no gun sign or firearm sign.

I doubt the ferry can take away your 4th amendment right with an illegal search...
but hey, it's 2011...
I saw a MI State Trooper this weekend in Clarkston (likely from the Holly post on Dixie). He was filling his gas tank as I drove past him and parked on the opposite side of the same island, under the canopy so my dog could have some shade (and left the car/ac running), as I ran in to grab a cold drink.
I got out of the car and turned strong side (OWB Serpa) with my full-size stainless para gi expert and went in to purchase my drinks. I walked past him again on my way out (weak side with fobus kydex double spare mags OWB) as he was spinning the cap shut on his gas tank. He looked up and simply nodded. I nodded back.
First time OCing in a larger public place! OC'd at Mejier in Wixom/Novi. Only stopped in to get some ink for my printer. At least a few people noticed. No issues. :)
Oced at Applebees in Monroe, other than a unruly, bratty and snotty nose screaming baby, no issues!
Last night, Wed august 10, @ about 11:30why couldn't you OC in walmart??? you have CPL. haven't seen you since the hoedown onnie. hope to catch you at a picnic or two.
Unfortunately, I was someplace I was unable to open carry my weapon, so I left it in the car.
When I got done I headed next door to the Walmart to raid the candy Isle, as the wife told me not to come home without masses of chocolate.
I parked my car, but I was so tired, i decided not to put on my holster but just to put the gun in my back pocket. It really does not fit in the pocket, but having it with me is better than leaving it in the car, it does me no good sitting in the glove box. with it tucked in my back pocket, i walked towards the door of Walmart.
I noticed a couple, a very short skinny Male and a very tall large Female, standing by the entrance that is marked "Pharmacy". Trying to mind my own business I made a mental note and continued on my way to the door, thinking to myself, gee they look like Mutt and Jeff.
As I was in earshot the female, who was on a cell phone said very loudly "do you think the buses run this late to Walmart" For a second I though she may have been talking to me so I glanced over at them and noticed she was on the cell phone looking at the male. Since they seemed not to be talking to me, I just proceed inside the store.
I walked through the produce section looking for some Juice and then headed over towards the back of the store, where I engaged a store employee for directions to the candy isle.
I found the location given me and began the search for the perfect pack of chocolate for my bride when I heard "I don't know what I want" I turned my head and see Mutt and Jeff standing behind me. I should have kept my mouth shut and minded my own business but I blurted out something like "keep looking you find something that tickles your fancy" I no sooner got that out of my mouth when the female, said in very demanding tone to me "what did you say?", I repeated it and she make a huff sound. Since I already had my pogey bait, and the fact she kinda was rude, I headed for the checkout.
As I got to the checkout and put my stuff on the counter, guess who was standing in back of me, yep you got it: Mutt and Jeff.
Now I was getting a bit concerned.
As the cashier was ringing up my stuff, i positioned myself so that when i lifted my shirt my gun would be in their view. With the cart between them and me, I lifted up my shirt to pull out my wallet and made damn sure they they had a clear view of my 40 Cal sticking out of my back pocket. as I put my wallet back in, i again made sure they were able to see it. Since its silver in color, its hard to miss.
I paid for my stuff and left the store, less then 2 second behind me strolled Mutt and Jeff.
As I turned towards them, now watching their every move, they headed towards a car and got in, pulled out and drove off.
Now my after though is this: Why would she be so concerned if buses run by Walmart that late at nite if they had a car with them:
I think I was a robbery target and the site of my gun may have just save me from a bump on the head and even a dirt nap.
This is one time I now wish that I was OCing rather the CC my gun, but I am glad I decided at the last minute to at least bring it in with me, I just wish I was not so lazy that I chose CC instead of OC.
Boy sometimes dreams are so vivid and weird!!!
last night I dreamed I moved my family back to Kalifornia where I had a little know clause in my contract with the Marines re-enacted and I was back stationed at Camp Pendleton.
as the wife and I were standing in line for dinner, I looked down and noticed I was OCing, nothing to get alarmed about EXCEPT I knew my gun was loaded and one in the chamber
quickly I scanned the area for a "safe" place and to ensure no cops were around, then I ran across the street behind the goat pens (don't ask) and in the woods and unloaded my weapon
I walked calmly back to the line where the wife was still standing, grabbed her and we quickly moved out of Kalifornia to some place I am sure is more Gun Friendly

i think it should be clearly marked on the door, i would of not even wasted my time driveing there...
Open carried my stainless Beretta 9mm on my Harley while cruising Saginaw street during the Back to the Bricks event. Folks were lined up and down the street from Grand Blanc to downtown Flint. I'm telling you, you don't have to have a classic car to get people to stare at you. The part I want to mention is that while gassing up at a station on Atherton and Saginaw, there were 3 Leo's parked in a driveway watching the going's on. I knew I'd be going by them on their side of the street. (getting nervous) I was watching them and the cop in the middle noticed my rosco and bumped the cop next to him and pointed me out. I saw this gesture and purposely nodded to him as I passed on by. Get this, nothing happened! Will I ever get to use my voice recorder?

.... MI gun laws are so confusing and F'd up, it's difficult to get people to understand that OC has separate laws regulating it and that the concealed carry laws they learned about in their class only apply to concealed carry.
.....
OC'd at 7-11 and at Delhi township offices. No issues...though I did see the sign posted at the Holt library which told me a judge can suspend my 2nd ammendment rights within the library...obviously I choose not to enter...still, it irked me...
When is the next court date for CADL?

Court is over. The decision is being appealed. Waiting to see if the CoA's will hear the appeal.
Hey Onnie, thanks for the visual..
Wow Bronson. Whether or not to show ID is a personal call and it can depend on how you feel at the moment and what your plans are for the rest of the night. Authoritarians seem have a need to see ID ... like it proves anything (some people even forged hall passes in high school) ... but it seems to make them feel better. When you refuse to show ID it seems to make them angry.
I'd say you did extremely well with your TSA encounter. :)
Fairlane Mall is a war zone. They have a curfew for kids in that place, it turned into gang on gang violence after dark. Most Taubman centers I've carried at have no issues with OC, good to hear Fairlane is good to go.
a guy shopper asked me if I was open carrying
Some OC firsts this week...
OC'ed for the first time at my son's preschool, no issues.
and just about 15 minutes ago I seen my first ever fellow OC'er at the Kroger on 26 mile and Romeo Plank.. I stopped and said hi :)

+1, The initials CCW (to the police) represents a felony activity to them (concealed carry weapon). So, you don't want to admit to that moniker. Use of CPL (concealed pistol license) is the proper term for referring to open/concealed carry activity.

#2 Crap like this only highlights exactly why a member defense fund is needed.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to call BS on this one. There's a little missing from the story. And a little embellishment also.
On the surface, this would seem to be a prime example for the need of a legal fund. But I believe support would drop off rapidly once ALL of the facts were revealed.
I'm confused. If his CPL was suspended, and he was carrying inside his car (which is why he was arrested, correct?), what's the problem? He wasn't notified? The suspension was in error and he is due damages? On April 24, 2011, Easter Sunday morning.......Two things here #1 If you are planning a 1983 Federal action, and you should in my opinion. Open carried in Caseville this past week..... I'm betting I'm the first to enter as such.
I'm so proud! ;D

On Tuesday evening 12-13-11 a friend and I went to the East Garden Chinese Buffet Restaurant on Kalamazoo Avenue, just south of 60th Street for dinner.
I was open carrying my .380 auto on my right hip and 2 additional magazines on my left hip. Upon entering and being seated, I removed my jacket at which time my pistol was revealed and in plain sight.
A large man and his overweight son were sitting at the table right behind where we were seated and as I left the table to go to the buffet, my friend heard this man say, I’m not going to sit here with these kind of people. As soon as I returned to my table, the man and his son got up and stormed to the other end of the restaurant. My friend didn’t say anything to me about what the man had said and I just assumed he and his son were leaving since they headed in the direction of the door and I didn’t see them again.
Dinner progressed well and we were almost finished with dessert when 2 Kent County Deputy Sheriff’s Officers came in the door. The restaurant owner asked if he could help them and I heard them say they had a report of a woman in there with a gun on her hip.
I turned around and said yes there is, at which point I stood up walked over to the female deputy and handed her my CPL and Driver’s License. She said a patron had called and reported a woman with a gun on her hip and he didn’t think his children should have to be subjected to that when they go out to eat. She wrote down my name, verified my address was correct and asked for my phone number. She apologized for interrupting our dinner and I apologized to her for their being taken off the road patrol for a ridiculous call like this.
I also apologized to the owner of the restaurant for the confusion and any inconvenience it may have caused. He reached over the counter took my hand and said, “It OK, you protect me.” “We welcome you”
The large man and his obese young son were still there when we left so I waved goodbye to him as I went out the door. I then got in my truck and left.
I'm so proud! ;D

I was asked to leave the Toys R Us store in Flint the other day. The man pointed out the fact that they have a no weapons policy and that it was posted on the door. Guess what I said...??? Ok... What a freaking idiot I was... I had nothing... I was so disappointed in myself. I was out of my comfort zone (my home town) and was ill prepared. I was like duuuuh. This is why we need to stay connected and keep each other sharp! I will not let this happen again. I sould have had something to say... (Yes sir, I'll leave, but all your no weapons policy does is keep law abiding citizens unarmed in your store. A criminal don't care about your sign or your policy!) Stay prepared boys and girls!
Also I was at Hardees in Owosso the other day and ordered some tacos for my Granny. It was simply 5 soft shells and 4 hard. The cook had a hard time with that. The lady taking my order says to me "If he gets this wrong you can shoot him". I said that I wouln't shoot anyone but I may come back... It was funny.

There isn't a probably about it. Unless the 1%ers who were concealing owned the bar or were hired by the bar for security, I am not aware of any other exception for CC in a 28.425o PFZ.
iv oc in bar, id thought the same thing. i wonder how it would be if this placed was packed ..i wondered if they would ask me to leave.
this bar has a radio stataion that comes in and broadcast every friday. I wonder what are my chances of haveing dinner there on a friday.
Had an MRI at Beaumont Hospital last week. No comments at all.
It must be because you're a woman. It is very rare anyone says squat to me about carrying -- positive or negative.
OC’d last night with Shadow Bear for dinner at Cracker Barrel in Grandville, MI. ...... invited them to the luncheon on the 28th at Café Connection.

I just got home from Meijers. While in the self-checkout lane I was talking with the attendant. One of his co-workers sitting nearby noticed my sidearm.
Her: Is that a gun?
Me: No, it's a water pistol.
Her: Really?!
Me: Of course it's a gun *smile*
She then explained she felt safer with me around because I looked like someone who could protect them and she'd rather me have it than some thug.
As I left I gave them each an MOC Trifold.
On a side note as I moved North on Cedar Street in Lansing, there was half a dozen Lansing Squad cars parked out front (I mean -- in the middle of the road) of the "Fleetwood Diner" with their lights on taking up half the road. As I moved passed them all in the turn lane, another cop car was turning it. A dozen officers could be seen in the street/on the sidewalk investigating something. It should be a good read in tomorrow's Lansing State Urinal (Journal) what happened there...
Lansing police are investigating a report of shots fired near the Fleetwood Diner early Sunday morning.
Shots were fired in the parking lot outside the Fleetwood Diner at about 4 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Riley and South Cedar Streets in Lansing.
Police say no injuries were reported and no subjects are in custody as a result of the incident. An investigation is ongoing.

Another audio provided by yours truly, I was at the same taco bell as the last encounter I had recently except this was with another gentleman. As you will hear this person is a little misinformed about open carry and was under the impression that you HAVE to conceal a gun when you carry. I gave him an MOC tri fold and spoke with him for a few minutes about open carry as well as some other things regarding it. Take a listen.

I certainly would have.
I love showing cranky old people what an old curmudgeon is really like.
Oh and to keep this on topic...
I OC'd in Ohio today. Service centers on turnpike. Motorcycle dealership. And a gas station.
I was careful to look foe "No gun" signs, since they have weight of law. Carrying past one is a crime in itself in Ohio. Owner doesn't need to ask you to leave. If they call the cops you're going to jail. Period.
by the way the NO FEE ATM charged me $1.50
Today was my first time OCing. I decided to start off slow so I went fishing along the river in Niles. Quite a few people walk this area and fish. I caught 2 pike in 30 minutes! Anyways, after the fish quit bitting I decided to go and have a casual conversation with one of the fisherman down the river. We talked about the fish we caught and so on. He didnt seem to be bothered by the M&P 40 on my hip. I guess its possible he may not have even noticed it. After our chat I wished him good luck and went on my way. I find myself going out of my way to be courteous and friendly to people and non intimidating because it is important for us OCers to set an example and show the public that we are NORMAL people. Today was a good day.
About a week ago I was shopping at the Meijers on South Cedar/Pennsylvania in Lansing. While checking out I ran into "METL" who was, of course, open carrying!

Welcome to the UP PaulC, next time go all the way and come visit. (all the way being the tip of the Keweenaw).
No problems or issues, or even questions oddly enough, at the zoo or at Denny's afterwards, it was a good day!
Denny's by 131 is pretty used to SM & I OCing there. Its a regular haunt for us.
OC'd at Walmart on Alpine last week and got a few looks from customers but nothing from employees. OC'd at Meijers on Plainfield Sunday and walked all over the store several times on "missions" from my wife with out even a second glance.
"TOTAL FIREARMS IS OPEN CARRY FRIENDLY"
Open carry my CZ75 at Foodland in Bay City on Sat night without issue, in fact, they opened another checkout lane and insisted I go first ;D
Foodland...is that a grocery store or a restaurant?
Welcome to our forum. Consider making a post about you in the introduction area.
OC'd at Subway in Paw Paw about 10 min ago.
The only issue was I forgot my chips. Now I will walk back.
Update - I got Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips.
I open carried yesterday.Wow me too. And I CC'ed today at work and nobody said a word about it, either time.

OC'd at Steak n' Shake for a couple hours tonight with 3 high school friends. I was sitting strong side out and the place was fairly busy. Nobody seemed to really care until we were just about to leave. A group of 5 college aged students sat down at a table kiddy corner to us. The kid who was wearing an Illinois jacket made sure to tell everyone at the table I had a gun. I tell by the commotion. The only person I could really hear was the kid who had the Illinois jacket and he said things like "There's no need for that!" "You can't just carry out in the open" "He could just pull it out and (then made the motion of shooting randomly in a bunch of directions)". Then he pull out his phone and took a picture of me. Said he was going to send it to his brother. I can't believe this kid thought I couldn't hear him. I pretty much just ignored them but still kept on eye on 'em. When I went up to pay he could not stop staring at me and from what I could tell he was talking about me.
"Is there something you'd like to say to me directly? Or are so cowardly that you'd rather say it behind my back?"
You could say something to the effect of "I couldnt help but to over hear some of your conversations and I couldnt avoid assuming you were referring to me. If you would like I can take a few moments to explain how open carry is legal and what the law says about it"That's why you're the VP. And I'm just an old curmudgeon.
Then if they are really curious about it they may accept the offer, if they dont care they will refuse it. Either way you come across as polite, regardless of how they feel about it the simple fact that you came across as polite and respectful is something they may remember and may have a larger impact on how they view seeing someone with a gun than if you were to give them a sarcastic one liner.
Even if they dont care to hear you out when you are trying to be polite, we (as gun owners and OCers) still need to remain calm and polite to even the most ardent gun control supporters. As gun owners we need to always be the more mature and take the high road, because the actions of one reflect on us all.
Speaking of curmudgeons... I open carried at the Lansing State of Michigan General Administration Building yesterday. Some homely bald guy wanted to chit chat. Other than that nobody paid me no never-mind.

Good experience and uneventful. The way it should be, glad to hear.
Hey everyone. Tonight, I OC'ed at the Denny's that my wife and I frequent. Thought I would let everyone know, zero incidents occurred. Three waitresses and several patrons, and one of the mgr's noticed that I was OC...it was no big deal to them. It appears that the general public is becoming desensitized to it. That can be a good thing and a bad thing. Good thing: no more hassles....bad thing: criminals wont care that people OC.
I will post more OC adventures and experiences as they happen.
Have a great night everyone.
~Ron
OC'ed at Applebee's and cinema Hollywood in Birch Run last night. No problems. I know a few people noticed and a several employees at the movie theater noticed, yet no problems.
Oh. Glad to know your CPL came in...?
OCed at Top Gun in Taylor a few weeks ago and was asked if I was a LEO. I responded that I was a former LEO and asked why they wanted to know. I was then told that they only allow OC for LEOs but CC was OK. When I asked why they gave me some BS answer about Range safety issues. Guess I just made my last purchase from them...
Open carried at TopGun today with my friend he has no CPL. Found out you don`t need a perchsesing permit any more as of Dec. 18, 2012. Took less than 30 mins. Also He Just did it with a State ID. Carry On.

Did I just read this correctly that it is no longer necessary to get a purchase permit for a handgun in MI?QuoteNo PP needed for FFL sales. Still need one for private sales. RI60 (or new version) still needed.
I have a dear friend that owns Sugar Gliders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_glider). I've become very curious of the little animals as I consider getting my own some day. I've read all sorts of information on the Internet, but have desired a more holistic source. The idea struck me! My local library!
So this evening I walked myself into the downtown branch Capital Area District Library (my local library -- nearest branch to my home). Being a warm 20-some degrees, I saw no need to wear a jacket on the 100 yard trek from my car to the door. The neighborhood, however, did look suspect! I decided the most prudent thing to do would be to take my firearm with me, openly carried as to deter any possible hoodlums.
I walked to the nearest electronic card catalog (which the ones when you first enter the library happen to be right next to the children section), sat down for a moment and entered "Sugar Glider". Withing a moment I found a book and the decimal number under which to find it -- and what floor it was on.
I took myself up to the second floor, walking by one of their security guards on the way (it's hard to walk through the library without crossing one -- the place must be very dangerous) and found the book I was looking for. I took said book to a nearby table and sat where I read it for two hours. I was left mostly alone and in peace, with the exception of the rather loud and obnoxious announcement (that is proceeded by an awful tone) advising patrons the library is closing in 30 minutes. You'd think the tone and announcement was designed to wake homeless people -- it's so loud and annoying!
Anyhow, I took the book to the checkout area where I checked the book out and proceeded home. Overall, the evening was uneventful (as one would hope). During my two hour stay a security patrol came by 3-4 times -- which I suspect is their normal patrol.
That's all -- just another day in the Library.
Of course I am sure the security was armed to protect you right? :o ::)STOP or else I'll yell STOP again!!!
Of course I am sure the security was armed to protect you right? :o ::)
No. In fact, there were a few questionable type "patrons" lurking about.
Steel Magnolia & I OCed the Michigan Gun Owners' meet & greet at the Pizza Hut on Byron Center in Wyoming, MI. Met a lot of new folks, answered a lot of questions on OCing. It was pretty well attended; probably 30ish or more.OMG Nobody grabbed your gun and shot you with it???
OMG Nobody grabbed your gun and shot you with it???
You weren't the first one shot???
The Fudds' heads didn't explode at the sight of a gun???
You mean two worlds collided and nothing happened?!?!?
Somehow I get the feeling you're not telling us something... :-D
Good job Ambassadors Bear and Flower!!!
OC'd today at Speedway in Dundee then onto the Secretary of States Office in Temperance. Uneventful.
Sounds like you live around me.
I live in Dundee. I sort of met you when you guys were at Cabela's about a month back. I got to speak with the other 3 guys just not you. I work at the Walgreens right there and stopped in after work. Was at the secretary of state to get new license sticker for the car today since my birthday is Saturday. You live in Temperance? I'm usually at the Village Pizzaria in Temperance on Saturday nights running a Karaoke show. If it's close to you maybe you should stop by and say hello some saturday. Great Pizza!
I live in Erie, so pretty much a stones throw away. Would be great to meet up. Around what time are you there, and are they OC friendly? The show at the pizzeria is from 9pm - 1:30am on Saturdays. Right near the corner of Lewis and Temperance on Temperance just a couple doors down from the VFW. It's a pizzeria/bar. Pretty much bar after 10pm. Whether or not they are OC friendly I am not sure. I don't push the issue because I work for them. Although one of the owners is a member of the gun club on Smith Rd. right by the airport. What his feelings are about OC I haven't a clue. I'm a member of the Dundee Sportsmans Club.
Well then perhaps I will stop in and "test the waters".It's a fun place! What's the worst that could happen? They tell you NO!
It's a fun place! What's the worst that could happen? They tell you NO!
I finally for the first time open carried at Meijer in BC to pick up a few things. Nothing exciting happened but I am pretty sure one guy was very nervous when he saw me, but I didn't get hassled or tailed by any employees, or any words from anyone. No cops showed up.
Well, this is the first open carry besides at the gun store/range where such things are to be expected.
I was pretty nervous but I kept my phone in hand to keep my mind off it a bit.
Cool. You have a CPL, right?Yes.
Oh, I am carrying for the first time today out and about. Finally not dependent on crutches again.
Feels good. :D
I know it sounds funny and uneventful but im at the point now where I can open carry to get the mail, take out the trash and sit on my back balcony without even thinking about it. Had a small mishap with the neighbor but that seems to have been settled . Planning on OC to the park and back when it gets warmer out with the family. Its about a half mile walk. I will have my audio recorder just in case.
For me this has been a baby step process.
Don't sell yourself short, baby steps are far better than no steps at all. Soon it will become second nature and actually feel unusual if you don't have your sidearm.
Now to put things in perspective, my wife works at this Wal-Mart.
Does Wal-Mart have a policy against weapons? I am wondering if somehow they can hold your wife accountable for your actions. Not to knock your wife's job but places like these have way of getting rid of people.
Well interesting morning for the wife and I. Some may be aware of the commotion in my area with Todd's Guns sponsoring a little league team down here. Todd's sons are on that team. The league had no problem but the coach and some parents did. Well, the wife and I got shirts from Todd's and showed up this morning for the game wearing them and our open carried hand guns. We were just past the gate to the field area when a coach from the other team came over, and said "Very classy, carrying a gun to a base ball game". I smiled, nodded , and replied "Thanks for the compliment" and my wife said thank you. Of course the guy was already walking away, having come over just long enough to try and insult us. Then a bit later while sitting in the bleachers a couple came over to sit. The woman got up behind us, started to sit, noticed our hand guns, and said to her husband "I can't sit here, sorry". So we had that bleacher to ourselves. Now the County Sheriff that was present and the Bedford Township officer didn't even give us a glance. Talked to a a couple other people who were concealed carrying about open carry as they new nothing about it. Those were pleasant conversations.
The Chief of the Wayland Police Department has welcomed open carry in the City of Wayland!!! He has our tri-fold, is very receptive to OC and has promised to educate all of his officers on the Michigan OC laws both with and without a CPL. The businesses in Wayland seem to welcome OC as well.
I have been helping a young lady who is the victim of domestic violence/abuse. She has 2 children who attend the Wayland schools. I have been OCing at two of the Elementary Schools for the past 2 weeks and have been warmly welcomed by the principals of both schools.
Thank you City of Wayland Michigan for your Outstanding reception to OC.
Great stuff Mag!!
I OCed in Celebration South in Grand Rapids last night. The wife and I enjoyed Iron Man 3 without incident. Unless you count paying $10 per ticket as an incident.
Do you have an NGC theatre in GR?
The one here in Lansing has $5 Tuesdays (doesn't apply to 3D movies though).

Open carried at the March against Monsanto protest in downtown Kalamazoo. Lots of lookers, informed some on open carry and told them about miopencarry.org After the march while at the park my friends and I were talking and one said "I think that guy told that cop you have a gun", and sure enough the cop started making his way down to my friends and I. When he got closer I saw he was eyeing my gun, but continued past and was standing behind me for a few minutes then he approached us he said "How you guy's doin? pretty peaceful march." To which we agreed, them he eyed my pistol and ask "what ya got there" to which I said "xd 40" and he said "nice" and then he said "ok you all have a nice day". It was my first time being approached by a cop while open carrying alone. I think it was as good of an interaction with LE as it could be.
.....
**Chase Bank in Westland on 7550 N. Wayne Rd - I always used to lock my unloaded sidearm in the trunk lock-box before going inside, empty holster, to deposit my paycheck (despite having a CPL and being aware of the interpretation of PFZ's and how they impact O/C for CPL holders)....
Open carried my Beretta 9mm while riding my Harley. Was followed by a Burton cop for a while, but no problems. Later my wife and I were in Tim Horton's in Fenton like usual. This day there were a lot of white haired, retired types in the place. After being there for about 20 min. the MSP rolls into the parking lot. It was unusual to see them here, I'm thinking. They came in and I had my wife watch them as she was sitting in their direction. I was getting ready mentally for an encounter. I'm guessing that either the manager or a patron made a 911 call on me. They sat two tables away and my wife said that the one looked directly at me (my magazine side) while talking into his shirt microphone. They took 10 min to finish their coffee and left. I had my msp update 86 at the ready by I didn't have my recorder. It was a close call.I live near that Fenton Tim Horton's. never go there but OC around there every day. yesterday I OC in Huntington Bank in Meijer hartland. no problems. I'm sure you don't need to pull #86 on MSP. they know it WELL. had an encounter with a MSP motor carrier officer that was what you think an encounter should be. he didn't have a problem with it at all and liked to see it.
I don't mean to discourage anyone from OCing... but if I see someone OCing a LCP or beretta nano or other pocket pistol, I'm going to make fun of them... lol....
If you're gonna OC, OC a full sized pistol. ;)
My first open carry experience. Went to MOC BBQ in Grand Haven. :)
OK, not much of a stretch for an experience, but ya gotta start somewhere.
Met a lot of great, friendly and knowledgeable folks, had a great time with lots of great food!
I'm just sayin...

OC at Lowes and Zips in Gaylord. Zips was having a blessing of the bikes. Met some good folks from the Sons of Liberty Riders.
Had a few approach me because I was wearing my MOC t-shirt. One lady asked another " Is that Phil " LOL Those of you that have met me, may get a laugh out of that. I did. A few are MOC members, but many are very aware of our cause.
Me,,,Phil,,,, Still laughing!!!!!!!
I am younger, balder, and better looking… ;)
Well I will grant you the balder part. ::)that's why his screen name is The Cue
OC'd yesterday at the Waterford Meijer and the Speedway at Cass and Elizabeth Lake Roads.
OC'd at Microcenter in Madison Heights today with my two year old daughter strapped to my back and the Serpa attached to the carrier.
......
No issues anywhere with the pistol. I did notice Home Depot has a sign that says "No Cameras and no tape recorders." So my phone wasn't recording there.
I have never noticed that sign but then I don't ever stop on my way in to stores looking for signs of any type. My DVR is running 24/7 once I leave the house and if I saw that sign it wouldn't cause me to shut off my voice recorder IMO, since it carries no weight of law AFAIK.
Why?
When the wife and I went to leave I made sure I stood next to the table looking at the bill with my strong side to him.
I got my cpl in the mail saturday. I oc'd all over Kalamazoo during the weekend. Went into a couple different walmarts, meijer, arbys, texas corral, all with no issues. The assistant manager at walmart did a triple take and said, "nice!"
She's going to let MOC know how disgusting you are? What did you do? :PJust walking around watching TJ's son and granddaughter play on the midway. OR maybe it was the beans I had the night before. LOL ;D
I wondered why he didn't just ask him what he was carrying instead of just looking at him...I would have just asked I guess. He was seated a good 25-30 feet from me, not like he was in the next booth. I also had places I needed to be and did not have time to chat. The standing and looking at my bill to give him time to see I was OC also was maybe 10-15 seconds.
She went on to tell me that she has two young boys, 3 and 4 years old and would never allow gun around them.I'm discovering that challenging misbeliefs with questions is pretty effective.
open carried at the Overpasses to Impeach Nobama gathering. The organizers for these events want ONLY conceal carry, so as not to make guns the topic over the purpose of being there. I complied but I didn't like being infringed by their organization. It was on exit 131/I75 Clio exit. I'll be looking for a mesh shirt that you can see through for the next one.
Questionable? I do not look like a thug. (http://images.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/toetap05.gif)
While OC'ing at Best Buy I spotted a lady pushing a cart across the parking lot, as she pasted in front of our car I noticed a semi-auto in a serpa holster. I saw where she was getting ready to load her box into her van and I stopped to say hello. She got a big smile on her face when I said that I was glad to see that I was not the only one OC'ing in the store. There was a boycott today? I'm so glad I stopped there today then!
She was the first person I have OC'ing in the Muskegon area besides myself.
We also went to Starbucks today and that place was packed. So much for the boycott! !
I was invited to one of these. I didn't go just for this reason.+1
She was the first person I have OC'ing in the Muskegon area besides myself.
Made it through Meijer on Gull rd in Kalamazoo with no looks or whispers until checkout. The cashier told me my gun looks really freaky, but at least I was safe. I responded with, I dont mean to startle anyone, i am glad you afe aware of what is around you. That is the first step in being safe. She went on to tell me that she has two young boys, 3 and 4 years old and would never allow gun around them. I left the conversation at that end. Maybe if I have another conversation with her i could mention that carrying a gun is more about staying alive for your loved ones than anything else.
While open carrying I went bought an American flag came home and hung it off my back balcony. My son asked me why I was hanging the flag and I told him this is the greatest country there is. He said is that why you can carry a gun and I said you Betcha. It was awesome. To any vets that are out there thank you for your hard work and sacrifice.Land of the free because of the brave.

I used to work for MC Sports. That is not their policy. The policy is to follow state law. I would contact corporate.
- Dad and Mom do not agree with open carrying
...... I proceeded to ask them if they had any problem with myself open carrying while in there store. She said as long as you had your license there is no problem. I do not have my CPL currently but do plan to start the process of getting it soon. .......
Today was my first open carry experience and it went smooth. I had called up to Radioshack to confirm they had what I was looking for. I proceeded to ask them if they had any problem with myself open carrying while in there store. She said as long as you had your license there is no problem. I do not have my CPL currently but do plan to start the process of getting it soon. I had to walk over a mile to get to the store on foot. and no problems.
- One guy said "Can I have your gun?" I respond with a laugh and a no.
- A couple was walking down the street and she looked at it and didn't say anything or look strange
- The guy behind the counter did look a little nervous at first but once I began talking about the product with the woman helping me he eased up
- Dad and Mom do not agree with open carrying
Further note: It was a great experience until my dad said I was going to far with this whole thing. His only point was that he feels like it was and is wrong. it can make people uncomfortable. While I don't seek to make people uncomfortable I strongly feel that protecting my-self is paramount despite all odd I wont ever have to use a weapon in that manner. But odds are odds and you never know when you can become a statistic. It was a strange feeling at first but it quickly defused and wasn't strange anymore. I was still thinking about it pretty much the whole time and I thought of a question that pertains to open carry without a CPL.
Thanks to all the members that make up this website. You have started to give me the understanding of my rights and how to apply them in a lawful manner. Thanks again for the help.

OCed at Old Chicago Pizza in Okemos today for lunch with MOC member Pond Scum.
Didn't think to grab a cell phone picture Doh!
Got to see his 1911 with SPARTAN GREEN pearl grips, though! (http://images.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Grocery shopping at Aldi's in jenison when an older couple (60's) got in line behind me and the gentleman stated, were gonna stand next to you young man. When asked why he nodded toward my 1911. He then began to talk about other firearms and keeping a weapon at home. It was a nice experience. Chalk one up for us good guys.
"May God have mercy on my enemies, because I won't."

she really didn't want anyone but "Police" to carry a gun in "her" store.
I can't stand those people. All scared that there is a gun around, but ok if it's on a cop.
Wonder how she feels about bodyguards? If she's OK with that, then we're all good...Funny that you mention that. My wife went to the local convenience store that we frequent a couple days ago alone. The proprietor asked her where her bodyguard was.
OC'd at Celebration North in Grand Rapids to see the Lone Survivor today. No Problems. A young fellow (22 or so) asked if it was a Kimber (no, it is a Metro Arms). Other than that there were no comments, no funny looks, no issues.Never forget...

Read the book back when it came out. I don't know how faithful the movie is, but the book was good.
I haven't read the book but I suspect my wife will be getting it for her reading list! I'll probably have to fight her for first reading rights ..... which probably won't end well for me! :oI haven't read the book either. But, I know the story very well. I was invited to the commissioning of the USS Michael Murphy by her Commanding Officer.
I recently moved from Kalamazoo, to East Tawas, Mich. I opened carried downtown the other day, no problems to speak of, but felt a little uneasy, mainly, because I knew a lot of people in kalamazoo, up here, its much different....hoping to meet some open carry members in this area....any suggestions
Contact our regional coordinator in your area and consider helping to setup a meet and greet in your area. Contact him at neregion@miopencarry.orgI've been trying to get something going in Holland for over a year now, noth'in.

I know Ryan Adams had hoped I could take over SW but I am not really the type of guy who could hold up the standards I have grown to see with leadership in MOC. But maybe I'll take a drive up and have lunch at http://jackiesplaceholland.com/ (http://jackiesplaceholland.com/) and talk to them about the opportunity of opening the eyes of some OCrs to the quality of their food. Or I can at least look around I think I have been to Holland once before (?) since I moved to Mi.
Maybe Casper and I can meet for lunch a week from Saturday?

OC'd at Family Fare in Allendale 2 days ago - No issue
OC'd at Meijer in Grand Haven today - only issue was my girlfriend telling me to cover up my gun because its "too big"... lol

OC'd for my first time yesterday at AA-saline rd Meijer. Nobody paid me any attention until I was done checking out and walked past the self checkout cashier. He was midway through saying have a good night when his eyes locked onto my Remington r1. I just joined the forum to post and hope to have many more pleasant experiences like this one.
Welcome. Just curious, do you have a CPL?
Yes.
i believe TheQ was checking since meijer has a liquor license. to OC you would need a CPL or permission from the store director. welcome to the forum! please take a moment to introduce yourself in the new members forum! :)
and spring is gone, OC'ed walking around the neighborhood with my girlfriend none the lessApril flurries brings May slurry.
Oc'ed at Sara's pizza in Hudsonville No issues. My order was not ready ( they dropped it and had to make a new one) so I stood around for 20 minutes or so. Busy place, lot of people coming and going. One lady about my age kept a close eye on me but nothing else.
You must be new here.
OC'ed for my first time this evening! I was very paranoid about doing it but it turned out great. OC'ed at Renegade River in Spring Lake with the help of Ryan Adams. We went to inquire about holding a seminar. Keep a look out for details! Overall a great experience and looking forward to doing it again soon.good job, it only gets easier
I OC'd in front of the Romulus City Council last night.
Different term limits then already in place?
City of Lansing for the most part is....afraid....to even look twice at open carriers, they have gotten far too much bad press over the years and have dealt with it before so they cant play the whole "we didnt know what we were and were not allowed to do so forgive us" card. heck, me and TheQ even got on LPD about putting out over dispatch a be adviced there are open carry subjects walking downtown thing....we took offense to being called subjects.
Went out with my wife for a short walk today. Both of us were open carrying.
Ran into some other people that were also open carrying. About a hundred or so. People with their families. Some with their pets.
Then I went to a restaurant with my wife to eat. There were probably 40 people in there that were open carrying too.
Was something going on today?
7 college aged guys...I proceeded to ask him "What is his stance on the 2nd amendment?" He said "What is that?"
OC'd while pumping gas at Speedway. Another patron kept staring at me. Oh well...
OC at somerset mall. Was asked to leave or conceal it. Happened to just conceal it (wife's bday and we are here bday shopping for her). Was approached by a single security guard. Nice man
I concealed my firearm but didn't bother to with my mag holster. Should I have concealed that also or no? I'm still here.
I was even barefoot with Conan's sword on my back. :sarcasm:
OC'd at Bass Pro Sop at Great Lakes Crossing to get my bow restrung. There was an Oakland County Sheriff outside that didn't notice or didn't care, and nobody inside noticed or cared. I had to have my bow checked and cataloged and all that fun stuff and the greeter didn't care. I assume at least the Bow smiths/Archery pros noticed as I was standing there for an hour but they didn't care. So all went well.

This weekend, I've OC'd at two different Speedways and Lowes.
OC'd (with CPL) at Great Clips to get a haircut.
Home Depot prohibits recording devices in their stores.
As in you can't video or photograph items and prices and stuff or what? Since when? I carry my audio recorder in with me when I go.
I thought lowes was one of those places that prohibit firearms? Am I mistaken? I thought I remember seeing a sign on the door at the one near me. I could be mistaken, it has been awhile and I just use home depot because they literally opened a Lowes in the same parking lot attachment so I don't want to shop at Lowes just based on that DB move. I'd say they are close enough for a non fat guy to run from Home Depots door, to Lowes door in less than a minute. Seemed like a bad business decision to open there, divide half the customer base where neither would receive full profits from the area type of thing. EH.What they can't see won't hurt them. My audio recorder is carried where it can't be seen.
Sterile OCed downtown South Haven for the Lawn Tractor Pull on Water Street, then walked down to the pier and back up into town to retrieve my car.
Forgot my wallet in the car. :-\
Not that it is a big deal, but I OC'd for the first time around my whole family over this last weekend. Mom hated it, dad smiled, siblings had mixed feelings. I finished my CPL class August 23 at CQT and October 10 I have my Michigan Gun Board meeting for Macomb County. Cannot wait for OC to be a lot less of a hassle.
Yeah, my mother was super anti-gun when I first purchased and started shooting. Now she is constantly asking how it is going and is pretty cool. Good stuff. Hopefully we can get a few of us together and have a good time! I'll be interested in joining for sure.Do you have your CPL? You'll need it to carry inside Walmart and/or Meijers.
Has anyone had any experiences OC'ing inside the Walmart on 14 and Van Dyke or the Meijer at 16 and Van Dyke?
I thought it was Meijer corporate policy to allow any form of lawful carry, which sounds like global permission to me. (but written authorization would be preferable)
No, Meijer policy is to follow state law. Therefore, barring special permission for you, you still require a CPL.In Virginia, "follow state law" means CC with CHP or OC with or without CHP. Both are legal and therefore would be following state law.
I'm thinking we should do coffee again sometime before the snow comes. Once snow hits, I won't be driving until April or May!
Guy in full military outfit , camo, vest, hat, etc. Holster for a hand gun but carrying a water gun in it. Escorting kids and moms during a Halloween event at Knapp's corners stores in grand rapids mi. His hand playing with the water gun in his owb holster and actual draws it and points it at some the adults. Walks up and down the side walk fidgeting with the gun. Something not to do when carrying. Any person or driving seeing that activity would have yelled brandishing. Could hardly see what gun he had in his holster cause it fully covered the fake gun.
Good for you Scott! The second time is even easier! :)+1
John Ball park -- isn't that a zoo? In which case, one could argue the property is primarily used for the education of adults and thus CC.It's a mixed use. There is a public elementary school on the property. If we took it by occupied area, it is first and foremost a park owned by the county. The problem I see is that we don't know where the designated school land starts and stops.
