OC'd around Grand Rapids today .... ate lunch at Cherry Inn ... oldest restaurant in town.  Went to Lowe's and then Best Buy ... no comments anywhere.  We went in to ABC Warehouse and one of the salesmen commented that I was armed and he would give me a discount .... but I think they give discounts for walking in the door and breathing in the store.

OCed during a purchase of a rifle in the parking lot of Gander Mountain Novi, and in the store afterwards. No comments but I felt as though this one guy was following me around.

Also carried into Dunham's Sports on Woodward & 13 Mile. A few looks but no incidents. They even let me into the back room to use their restroom. The guy at the gun counter was very helpful and smiled when I turned and he saw what was on my hip.
On the way out a customer coming in asked me "why I had that thing", and I informed her about open carry and why I do it (under 21). She smiled and said, "that's awesome, stay safe!"

All in all a very pleasant first experience of being in stores with it.

OCed at the Monroe County Fair from about 4 pm to about 6 30ish, no issues
as I was leaving one County Sheriff seen me and started to walk towards me but never approached.

it started to rain so we left otherwise we would have stayed a bit longer

lots of looks, couple of points, two young kids working in one of the food wagons walked around me in a circle for about 5 minutes while we were eating (i did notice a person I suspect to be the food wagon owner watching me ever couple of seconds as we ate) but the only screaming I heard was from the kids on the rides!

Good to hear- I've heard some less than ideal things about OC in Applebees.

OC'd this week at Maggie Moo's at the Lansing Eastwood Towncenter.  I only stopped in for a moment to pick up some ice cream for home, but I'm sure the Maggie Moo's employees noticed as well as many people dining outside the restaraunts.  No comments, no issues.

Also OC'd in Dewitt, at the local Chinese takeout place.  No issues.

OC'd at Kroger in Wixom.  Had an interesting encounter with another customer:

Him: "Why you looking to scare people by wearing a gun." (he says this as soon as I walk in the door)
Me: "I'm not looking to scare people." (as I walk by him smiling).
Him: "Doesn't scare me." (I ignored him and continued my shopping)

Last night, Wed august 10, @ about 11:30

Unfortunately, I was someplace I was unable to open carry my weapon, so I left it in the car.

When I got done I headed next door to the Walmart to raid the candy Isle, as the wife told me not to come home without masses of chocolate.

I parked my car, but I was so tired, i decided not to put on my holster but just to put the gun in my back pocket.  It really does not fit in the pocket, but having it with me is better than leaving it in the car, it does me no good sitting in the glove box. with it tucked in my back pocket, i walked towards the door of Walmart.

I noticed a couple,  a very short skinny Male and a very tall large Female, standing by the entrance that is marked "Pharmacy".  Trying to mind my own business I made a mental note and continued on my way to the door, thinking to myself, gee they look like Mutt and Jeff.

As I was in earshot the female, who was on a cell phone said very loudly "do you think the buses run this late to Walmart"  For a second I though she may have been talking to me so I glanced over at them and noticed she was on the cell phone looking at the male.  Since they seemed not to be talking to me, I just proceed inside the store.

I walked through the produce section looking for some Juice and then headed over towards the back of the store, where I engaged a store employee for directions to the candy isle.

I found the location given me and began the search for the perfect pack of chocolate for my bride when I heard "I don't know what I want"  I turned my head and see Mutt and Jeff standing behind me.  I should have kept my mouth shut and minded my own business but I blurted out something like "keep looking you find something that tickles your fancy"  I no sooner got that out of my mouth when the female, said in very demanding tone to me "what did you say?", I repeated it and she make a huff sound. Since I already had my pogey bait, and the fact she kinda was rude, I headed for the checkout.

As I got to the checkout and put my stuff on the counter, guess who was standing in back of me, yep you got it:  Mutt and Jeff.

Now I was getting a bit concerned.

As the cashier was ringing up my stuff, i positioned myself so that when i lifted my shirt my gun would be in their view. With the cart between them and me, I  lifted up my shirt to pull out my wallet and made damn sure they they had a clear view of my 40 Cal  sticking out of my back pocket.  as I put my wallet back in, i again made sure they were able to see it.  Since its silver in color, its hard to miss.

I paid for my stuff and left the store, less then 2 second behind me strolled Mutt and Jeff.

As I turned towards them, now watching their every move,  they headed towards a car and got in, pulled out and drove off.

Now my after though is this:  Why would she be so concerned if buses run by Walmart that late at nite if they had a car with them:

I think I was a robbery target and the site of my gun may have just save me from a bump on the head and even a dirt nap.

This is one time I now wish that I was OCing rather the CC my gun, but I am glad I decided at the last minute to at least bring it in with me, I just wish I was not so lazy that I chose CC instead of OC.

Open carried in and around Westland today. Had dinner at Buffalo Wild wings in town then went to the Westland Library band shell for Toppermost concert (Beatles Tribute band) After the show and it was pretty good. Tom who plays John Lennon said to my son "is this your dad? he"s cool 'cause he knows the law" he later said "open carry is fine by me" I told him "What ever gets you thru the night you know its all right its all right" he smiled
Why do you carry that handgun every place you go? Cause it's lighter than my shotgun.

I spent the first week of Aug. on Drummond Is., camping and off-roading,  I OC 90% of the time there, no negative encounters or questions about my sidearm (Glock 20). On our way home we stopped at Mackinaw City, walked the Main street (tourist trap pathway) no encounters there. Maybe people are accepting us not sitting at the back of the bus.

OC'ed all day today... went to Wal-Mart at M-59 and Romeo Plank, no issues at all. Then went to Kroger's in Macomb Township and the Kroger gas stations... went great...

Launched the boat at Selfridge DNR Launch and took the boat out to North Channel. Stopped at Deckers Landing to get sun block and was greeted when I entered the store with, "Are you a cop or OC'ing?"  I replied OC'ing and he said something like "Hell yeah!" and shook my hand. Deckers is OC friendly :)

OC'ed all day... stayed in U.S. waters :) no issues... no fish either :(
