As usual I oc every day just about everywhere I go that it is legal. Had a good experience at dinner time. Panda buffett on warren rd in Westland. Had one gentleman ask about oc gave him a msp update 86 as well as a SMVM oc handout. While I was answering his question regarding places with liquor licenses another gentleman misquoted the law. The other guy stated there was no way to carry legally in an all out bar. I decided rather than argue infront of the newbie I repeated to him that getting his cpl is really the best way to oc because you get valuable training and can oc more places.

Later another gentleman in a usmc ball cap walked up with a young girl maybe 10 years old, he said "do you know your scareing people with that gun" I responded "I'm sorry, that's to bad" I got ready to debate this guy however his whole demeanor changed he was actually very oc friendly he was just bieng funny. Turns out he is partially retired LEO and he works occasionally with Local dept which he didn't name. We spoke about S.A. and weapon retention he was not preachey he was helpful and complimented me when I expoused some of the things I do as far S.A. "yeah you get it" and "yes that's the right mindset" I told him I  just  retook my cpl class and that a retention class and advanced cpl classes were on my list for the future.

We also spoke about the "us vs them" mentality of some LEO. I told him briefly about my Southgate incident and was shocked that he knew the lead officer. Knew him by name and reputation he also had an opinion he said officer Micheal Murphy is an idiot he eluded that perhaps he knows someone because officers such as him are an unnecessary liabilty for the dept. Given the ex-marine, LEO demeanor and interest in my level of S.A. I now think that maybe he is involved in training. Overall it was a very refreshing experience especially to hear a LEO speak positively regarding OC.
Why do you carry that handgun every place you go? Cause it's lighter than my shotgun.

Yesterday, I was getting gas and another fellow walked by and said something to the effect: "That we need more people open carrying." As he came out of the building, I remarked if he had considered helping out the cause? He said that he was carrying concealed and that he was a county Leo. I'm guessing that he can't open carry. We talked a minute about the activity and he said that the dept. got a memo about us open carriers. He took one of my MSP 86 updates. I'm thinking that oc is mostly accepted now.

Today a while having driveway and parking lot seal coated, the boss of the crew said to me watch out for that gun, it scares me, i said why, and he said that some bad guy had pulled a gun on him years ago. I said should only bad guys carry guns.

I hear ya. My oldest (of 6) is 38, youngest is 23. Of course if you ask them, "the old man" invented dirt!

We could both be right. They are both very good things to practice.

OC'd at the youngest son's pre-school and the older boys' elementary school today as well as the eye doctor (who wide eyed my hip). Yesterday I OC'ed at Bass Pro, Harbor Freight and the Boy Scouts Store in Waterford/Pontiac... where ever... I did not OC at the Cub Scouts meeting... their rules :(

Also OC'ed t the usual places (Kroger, Gas station)

After standing in honor of Spc Chazray C. Clark in Ecorse last night

Several Patriot guard members and myself went to Fergies Fish & Chips for some dinner

as I always do I CC during  my standing in Honor.  Because it was raining I chose to CC while riding the bike to the restruant.

once in side, I removed my jacket and vest and had my ATI 45 in my shoulder hostler

No issues from anyone including the waitress who stood at my strong side taking the tables orders.

During dinner, we got into a discussion on the use of a recorder for recording conversations.  Of course one person  states Michigan is a 2 party state and you need both parties.

I said no its a one party state, I was told I was WRONG!  That they were positive it was a 2 party state.  "I know" said a 3rd party, lets ask XXXXX he is a cop.  Guess who was clueless?
but at least he said he would look it up for sure, and this morning he did, agreeing with me in the area we were discussing

after that I CC on my way back home, only because it was raining heavy.

Oced at Best Buy Southland Mall in Taylor and them at Verizon Wireless across the street

No issues at either place

OCed a few new places over the last couple weeks. Detroit zoo & rivers edge pizza in dundee. Also OCed at cabela's while purchasing a new handgun, I find it amusing that they have to walk you to the door with your new purchase even though you are carrying. Anyone else purchase a firearm at cabela's recently? Their new set up took over 90 min to be out the door. Used to be about 40 min

Its been a while since I tried to buy a shotgun there, the process was so messed I told them to forget it 7 days into the process!

I look to see what they have but thats all, I buy my reload stuff there, but to buy a gun, i use Davison's Gun Geni and have it sent to Magnum force in Monroe, last hand gun purchase that way I saved over 80 bucks

Open carried at the DamnSite Inn in Hell. They have half pound burgers for 7.50. I was ready to lunch elsewhere, but they didn't object. Stopped off at a Speedway in Highland, and then cruised through 7 Lakes State park to look around. People look, but they mind their own. Getting ready for the Plymouth Chili Cookout on Sunday. A new place to open carry!

once again too many OC to even mention. no issues or problems. i do notice that OC is also a useful tool to getting speedier service at busy retail places. have to go back to verizon today for new phone (experia oh yeah oh yeah). i notice i get rushed past other people that were there before me. oh well. maybe another good selling feature for OC.
another thing popping up which i LOVE is people approaching me VERY interested in OC that heard about it but clueless in it. i am more than happy to talk all about it. i never have trifolds or MSP #86 on me. bought a new printer. need to crank some out. i steer people here too (hi kristen at best buy). i get so into the speech i lose track of time. if they are on company time i'm sure i get them in trouble. i also try not to sound like a born again christian trying to convert someone. just try to be a good example and just go about doing my everyday stuff.
women are approaching me as well. a demographic i think we should recruit more. it's very empowering for someone to see a woman secure enough to OC. my sister is going to once she gets her CPL. she is a chronic procrastinator so i have to push her a little.
anyway got lots to do today and OC in tshirts is drawing to a close soon. have to get out while i can. have fun guys. "let's be careful out there" - phil esterhause Hill Street Blues

I hit the mother lode as per inquiries on the ins and outs of open carry at the Plymouth Chili Cookoff, and at the Harley dealership that we rode from. I passed out 7 MSP 86 updates to those that questioned me. The folks had part of their info correct, on open carry, but were in error on other parts. The update covers the topics of open and concealed thoroughly. The guys were happy to realize that they had more latitude to carry their weapons, as some of them showed that they were carrying concealed. I guess it made their day, the info. It was a crowed festival with good chili. I called it a pick pocket's paradise. Plenty of cops, looks and a good opportunity to advance open carry. Having a booth like the Abate of Mi. would really inform the public. It was a good day to be on a bike!
