Oced at Taco Bell in Dundee today, gun at the next table wanted to know if my holster was "special" since I had my gun Cocked with the hammer back.  Told him the holster was a retaining holster and it required a button to be pressed before it released the gun and as far as the hammer being back, thats just how I carried it

before he asked me anything I could hear a bit of the discussion, the young girl at the table was wondering if I knew that the hammer was cocked and her boyfriend said, I guess I will just ask him..............no she said, I dont want to upset him.............I think its alright the BF said, and thus the question came.

i did have a bit of a chuckle forming as I heard the banter between them

no issues and nope they did not leave till their meal was done

OC'd yesterday at Home Depot and McDonald's. Had a woman approach me and ask me if I was a cop or if I had a permit... gave her a quick run down on OC.. She was very receptive, but she crowded into my personal space and made me ansy a bit when she practically sat on my lap when asking me questions (squeezed in the booth when I was sitting on the end)..

OC'd at the usual today... Speedway for a morning coffee, Home Depot and Kroger.

This past summer i was o.c. in Mt. Pleasant as i always do and was in Menards. A store manager told me i could not carry my gun in there. I explained to him that it was legal and he said he didn't care because it made him very nervous. I said ok and when i got home i contacted the main store manager and told him what happened and he said he feels the same.I said ok and told him i would not be back ever. I had an incident at Home Depot also where an employee told me it was not legal to carry a gun in the open.I explained to him the law and he said i could not carry in there anymore.I again called the store manager and he said he had no problem with it because it made him feel safer.I asked him what the company policy was and he said he would find out and get back to me.A couple of days later he called me and said corporate headquarters had no  problem with it as long as it was legal.  He said he would have a meeting with all of the employees and inform them of  the policy.I thanked him and told him Home Depot will be the only place i shop.No more Menards.

Last night I was at Little Caesars (I call this particular location the Ghetto Caesars because where it is located -- on MLK and Holmes in Lansing). Another customer said -- "hey bro, your gun is hanging out".

I replied, "I know".
He said, " oh, open carry? Cool."

An employee or two eyed my strong side at the revelation by the other customer that there was in fact a gun in the store.

That was that.

tonight stopped by same kroger been to many times OC. waiting in u-scan line i backed up when a woman backed into me. a woman behind me said "oh my no". i didnt look back then she said "those scare me". i said "mine isnt going to hurt you" she said "other people with guns scare me" i said " if anybody comes in here armed and doing something stupid my gun would save you best i can". she said " that makes me feel better about your gun then" glad i could change a viewpoint a little in a 10 second conversation.
when i was leaving i threw my bag of groceries in the passenger side of my jeep facing the street. in the back of the parking lot was an oakland county deputy patrol car  aimed right at me with lights on. there was NO WAY they did not see my Sig rig. i shut my door and looked directly at them. the headlights went off. my thought was -ok they are waiting for me to drive out so they can stop me. i took a few seconds to get my digital camera (video) ready on the passenger seat just in case. pulled out but no stop.
wonder if there was a call and they waited but seeing an obvious lawful carry situation decided not to encounter me possibly terry vs ohio holding them back. dont know. too cooincidental they were there by chance. all good tho. OCSD has always been a professional department and have had several oc encounters with them all non issues. i wasnt overly concerned about a negative encounter so maybe i was just being paranoid. oh well.

Getting harder to OC with my current wardrobe. Had a birthday dinner to go to ( Thinking it was Ruby Tuesdays) found out it was Victim Zone Fridays (TGI Friday's in Canton) with a big victim sticker on the window. Grrrrrr...

I'm so proud! ;D

On Tuesday evening 12-13-11 a friend and I went to the East Garden Chinese Buffet Restaurant on Kalamazoo Avenue, just south of 60th Street for dinner.

I was open carrying my .380 auto on my right hip and 2 additional magazines on my left hip.  Upon entering and being seated, I removed my jacket at which time my pistol was revealed and in plain sight.

A large man and his overweight son were sitting at the table right behind where we were seated and as I left the table to go to the buffet, my friend heard this man say, I’m not going to sit here with these kind of people.  As soon as I returned to my table, the man and his son got up and stormed to the other end of the restaurant. My friend didn’t say anything to me about what the man had said and I just assumed he and his son were leaving since they headed in the direction of the door and I didn’t see them again.

Dinner progressed well and we were almost finished with dessert when 2 Kent County Deputy Sheriff’s Officers came in the door.  The restaurant owner asked if he could help them and I heard them say they had a report of a woman in there with a gun on her hip.

I turned around and said yes there is, at which point I stood up walked over to the female deputy and handed her my CPL and Driver’s License.  She said a patron had called and reported a woman with a gun on her hip and he didn’t think his children should have to be subjected to that when they go out to eat.  She wrote down my name, verified my address was correct and asked for my phone number.  She apologized for interrupting our dinner and I apologized to her for their being taken off the road patrol for a ridiculous call like this.

I also apologized to the owner of the restaurant for the confusion and any inconvenience it may have caused.  He reached over the counter took my hand and said, “It OK, you protect me.”  “We welcome you”

The large man and his obese young son were still there when we left so I waved goodbye to him as I went out the door.  I then got in my truck and left.

Open carried in Caseville this past week..... I'm betting I'm the first to enter as such.

I would say most definitely for Huron County.

Of course they were still there. They were not scared just angry. And also they had not yet eaten all they could hold.....

This is a perfect example of how open carry and an open carry issue should be handled! Way to go, good work!!

I was asked to leave the Toys R Us store in Flint the other day. The man pointed out the fact that they have a no weapons policy and that it was posted on the door. Guess what I said...??? Ok... What a freaking idiot I was... I had nothing... I was so disappointed in myself. I was out of my comfort zone (my home town) and was ill prepared. I was like duuuuh. This is why we need to stay connected and keep each other sharp! I will not let this happen again. I sould have had something to say... (Yes sir, I'll leave, but all your no weapons policy does is keep law abiding citizens unarmed in your store. A criminal don't care about your sign or your policy!) Stay prepared boys and girls!

Also I was at Hardees in Owosso the other day and ordered some tacos for my Granny. It was simply 5 soft shells and 4 hard. The cook had a hard time with that. The lady taking my order says to me "If he gets this wrong you can shoot him". I said that I wouln't shoot anyone but I may come back... It was funny.

I open carried on Sat. into William's Gunsight for some target practice. Then over to Tim Horton's for a coffee. I walked past one of their associates, going over to the counter and she said "Whoa". I looked back and she had a sheepish grin on her face. I guess my packing surprised her. Next, over to Meijer's for a few things. It was packed and people just looked without comment.

I moved the recent post about Dunham's requiring a CPL holder to get a PTP in order to buy a pellet handgun as it seems to be out of the scope of an Open Carry Experience and deserves more discussion

Open Carried at Wal-Mart and as I was walking to my vehicle I noticed a car "slow rolling" by me. My SA was already ratched up pretty high as the store was packed. He rolled down his window and asked me if I ever get any crap for OC'ing. We had a very brief, but positive exchange. OC'd at Kroger and Hollywood Market. No issues.
