Hello all!
« on: July 31, 2011, 08:30:40 AM »
I've been a lurker for about 2 months now, ever since I purchased my handgun. I've got a Smith & Wesson 915.
Finally decided to join MOC. (Student membership is a good deal!) I'm a 19 year old student at Oakland University. I look forward to the community and finally talking with all of you!

Welcome!  Be sure to ask lots of questions and until you get a CPL, make sure you are extra extra diligent to know the laws surrounding OC.

Welcome again!

Welcome! Make sure you read up on all the laws before you OC and do not OC on campus. Some colleges have "special" authority that allows them to basically "void" the preemption law MCL 123.1123 :o Got to love MI law ::)

Sometimes this site can be a little tricky to navigate [so much info in one place ;)]
Try OCDO no membership required.

Try these links (by fellow OCers. many are members here also).

A good guide,

Legal updates from the State Police [look at #86 in particular / the last link at the bottom of that page].

see downloadable chart located at post #94

Carry on and try to catch a OC picnic if you can this summer. They are a safe place to start your OC adventures at
{less stress, with many fellow OCers close by}. There's one at metro beach on Aug28 that should be fun :)

"It is now more likely that a person will be the victim of a violent crime than that he will be in an auto accident. Despite this, most people readily believe that the existence of the police relieves them of the responsibility to take full measures to protect themselves."

Don't forget, you can't OC anywhere that is licensed to sells liquor. This includes most gas stations, many restaurants, and most grocery stores.

Thanks for the reading! I've done my fair share of research thus far- I've been making sure I'm within the law. I've OC'ed a few times so far with no issues whatsoever.
I'm going to try to make it out to the picnic!
