New in Lenawee
« on: May 24, 2010, 11:29:02 PM »
New in Lenawee. I've read a few posts in doing so I am curious what IWB and OWB stand for? The cpl course I took did not give any information on ways to correctly cc and did not have much to say about oc and information about it. Just found this site today and will check it often I'm sure I will have many questions in doing so.

IWB = In the waistband

OWB = outside the waistband
Anything I post may be my opinion and not the law... you are responsible to do your own verification.

Blackstone (1753-1765) maintains that "the law holds that it is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer."

Welcome to OC emt805.  Glad you found us, and I hope you find the information useful.  I was surprised your instructor didn't cover aspects of holster selection, retention of your firearm is pretty important.  OC is not really in the primary realm of a CPL course, although it should be discussed in some fashion during a class, but if it was mentioned at all, kudos to your instructor for knowing and respecting the laws of Michigan.

Went today and filled out all the parperwork for my cpl, turns out without knowing it I was finished an hour before the gun board meeting and was told that I would have to wait for the meeting at the end of next month because they would not be able to get the paperwork across the street before the meeting started, looks like it is a waiting game at this point.

That same thing actually happened to someone who was at the gun board the day I was there.  The gun board was actually quite understanding and talked with the individual and told him that pending the background check he would not need to return and they would approve it based on his current appearance.  Thought that was mighty understanding of the time and effort that is required to show at those pretty useless meetings.  Enjoy your wait though, sometimes it seems ridiculous, stay strong!
