May I open carry if I have a misdemeanor conviction?
« on: January 03, 2014, 08:47:59 AM »
I have a misdemeanor conviction in the State of Michigan, so the Oakland County Gun Board revoked my CPL for 3 years (to which I complied fully); yet, I don't know the law regarding OPEN carry in this situation. Would somebody please answer?

Thanks
Tony

I am not a lawyer, but I would suggest you look at whether or not you are allowed to possess a pistol. See MCL 28.422

The way the law reads/works, if you are allowed to possess, then you are allowed to carry. However, you need a license to conceal.

Also make sure you know where you can and can't go without a CPL and how you must transport your firearm.

I was denied as well and I open carry "everywhere" I legally can. I didn't get a CPL revoked however.

As long as you can purchase a firearm in accordance with MCL 28.422 you can legally open carry that pistol.  There are a lot of things you need to know about when OCing without a CPL, read the "Open Carry w/out a CPL" information at the link below regarding everything you need to know about OCing without a CPL.
