SWAT team attacks, maims innocent person
« on: May 19, 2014, 01:58:52 PM »
In August 2012, 52-year-old John Hytrek was in the driveway of his business working on a tractor wheel.  He had previously had an argument with a relative and told him to leave the property.  The relative, who had previously been convicted of making false statements to the police, reported that Hytrek was making threats against him.

So little Pottawatomie County, Iowa, sent in the SWAT team, who blindsided him, bashed his head against a tire machine and the ground, punched him in the head at least five times and in the body multiple times.  He was left with a broken eye socket, lacerations, a concussion, and "other injuries."  He still has pain to this day.

Luckily, an EMT was nearby (standing by because of the SWAT action?) and recorded the attack on his cell phone.

Mr. Hytrek was taken to the hospital, then to jail, then back to the hospital because his wounds weren't healing.  The false assault and harassment charges were dropped in November.

He has filed a lawsuit against the county for his medical bills and damages.

We really have to demilitarize our police forces.  When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail.  I also think the cops involved should be charged with aggravated assault, if not attempted murder.

They had automatic firearms but they were afraid of his hammer?  :gavel:

So much so that they blindsided him, knocked him on the ground an beat him?  :deadhorse:

The most that will happen:  :spank:

What do you expect when the Pottawattamie County SWAT teams training is only based on everything they see in the movies and the TV show Cops!!

Since the citizen lived and giving the police officers a chance to learn from their mistakes. Twenty lashes with a cat in a public square with required attendance of a section of the police force and the public should get the message through even the thickest heads (With a gallows standing nearby to remind what the other option is would not hurt). Sorry former MP and this is completely unacceptable, a lawsuit is not enough. -Michael
