The states with the 6th circuit federal court jurisdiction some good news. The fourth amendment protects your right to open carry, where it is legal to do so.  From the Sixth Circuit federal court of appeals decision today in Northrup v. Toledo Police Dept.:

For those who don't know what states are in what circuit:  http://www.catea.gatech.edu/grade/legal/circuitmap.jpg  This ruling holds true in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
