Second Amendment Activist Day at State Capitol Oct. 9th

On October 9th, MOC/MCRGO/MGO/SAM are once again sponsoring a gathering at the State Capitol. People will be urged to visit their legislators to express their views on a variety of second amendment issues.

Tentative schedule as follows:

9:30 AM - March proceeds from Pennsylvania Ave and Michigan Ave towards the Capitol
10 AM-Noon - Meet with your State House members.
Noon-2 PM - Meet with your State Senators.

We look forward to seeing everyone again as we promote the right to keep and bear arms with our lawmakers.

A Wednesday was chosen not because it will give the best turn out, but rather because lawmakers are actually in the building.

What is SAM?  Second Amendment Foundation?  If so, shouldn't it be SAF?  If something else, what is it?

I need:

* 3 volunteers for our table (one of whom I will ask to take the lead)
* As many volunteers as I can get for the joint organizatin table.  This table will be helping people identify who their representatives are using citizen guides.  We will train you on the mornng before the arch on how to help people do this.

Please email (PHofmeister@miopencarry.org)) me or respond to this thread quoting this post, if interested.  Please don't make me come and ask you individually :)

What's a good place to park?  Just to confirm with a CPL I'm good to OC or CC when meeting my rep.?

Just South of the Capitol on the ramp on Townsend (not the ramp on Allegan, which bans guns).

It was really nice for that police officer to make sure we were safe on our walk to the capital.  I felt much safer :)

I heard they were actually there because there were a lot of anti Snyder protesters expected to be bussed in for the deposition that was today.

Specifically referring to the one that was parked on the street.  As the march was progressing, he picked up a handheld radio.
