Keep that Coke, coffee, etc away from keyboards and monitors while reading this one.
I guess this is why Michigander refused interview requests from Freep and News reporters at the Dearborn rally, calling their employers slanderous:

Really. The Freep columnist blamed the NRA stating "The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

Then she creates a straw man that a bad guy with a gun is the same as a bad guy with a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise.  That the Home Depot parking lot shooter did what she's been told to do.  Wow.

No rounds were fired. No people were hurt as a result of the concealed carrier’s actions. No children were kidnapped. Wow. That’s crazy.  Don’t let the media find out.

So mental health issues = the guns fault.  Poor judgement = NRA's fault.  No personal responsibility.  Got it...
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. Luke 11:21

Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one."  Luke 22:36

Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth said that he still has concerns with having an armed public.  Too bad, Gene.

"If the cops show up to the scene and the person with the CPL and the bad guy are fighting, how do the police know who's responsible for the crime?"  While that is a remote possibility, the far more likely scenario is that the encounter will be over (relatively) long before the cops show up.  Could it conceivably happen?  Yes.  Is it likely to happen?  No.

Hey, Gene, I've got an amazing and revolutionary idea in law enforcement procedure for you. I realize it's a bit hard to comprehend for a guy who spent his formative years kicking down doors for Tri-County Metro Drug, but try to follow along and I'll try to use words you can understand.
It's called: "When you don't know what's going on, don't shoot anybody!"

She got probation, which seems reasonable for somebody with no criminal intent who did no actual harm, stupid as her actions seemed.

There was some discussion on the MOC fb group page that, if I understand the discussion correctly, under Michigan's fleeing felon law she might have gotten away with it if she had had a good attorney.

1990's People vs Couch

We would hold that a private citizen making an arrest pursuant to MCL 764.16; MSA 28.875 is not privileged to use deadly force to prevent a fleeing felon's escape unless the arresting citizen reasonably believes that the felon poses a significant threat of serious physical harm to the citizen or to others. In the event excessive force is used, that citizen may be subject to criminal prosecution.

That's Bonfire v Couch, otherwise known as Cedarfest in the 1980s.

A thief that just stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and KNOWS he is being chased.

Jumps in a vehicle and tears out of the parking lot with NO REGARD for the safety of the public & you don't think they pose a danger?
